Rassen M. Lopez

Atty. Rassen M. Lopez, Filipino, has been with the Energy Development Corporation since 2013, when he was seconded from First Gas Power Corporation (FGP Corp) to head the Company’s newly-formed Legal and Regulatory Group (LRG). 


Rassen’s career with the Lopez Group started in 2007 with First Gen Corporation (First Gen) as Senior Manager until 2010, as Assistant Vice-President at FGP Corp in 2013, and as Vice President also at FGP Corp in 2015.


Prior to joining the Lopez Group, Rassen has built up his legal and corporate expertise in energy, renewable energy, electricity industry restructuring and privatization, public utilities and contracts from his work experience. From a stint as  Unit Manager at Procter & Gamble Philippines from 1992 to 1993, he joined the National Power Corporation, where he became a Corporate Privatization Officer, until 1999. He subsequently joined the Tan Acut & Lopez Law Firm and the Platon Martinez Flores San Pedro & Leano Law Offices as Associate Lawyer. Thereafter, he served as Chief of Staff of Senator Sergio Osmena III who chaired the Senate Committee on Energy and Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions, and Currencies and co-chaired the Joint Congressional Power Commission.


Rassen graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering (1992) and Bachelor of Laws degree (1998). He also holds a Master of Science degree in Finance (2003), also from the University of the Philippines.
