EDC’s Green Core Geothermal Inc. is set to allocate 200 MW of geothermal capacity to the Philippine government’s Green Energy Option Program.
The Energy Development Corporation (EDC) via wholly-owned Green Core Geothermal Inc. (GCGI) has been approved by the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) as one of the renewable energy suppliers under the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP). EDC’s Bacman Geothermal Inc. had also previously received clearance to participate in the program.
GEOP is a voluntary policy mechanism launched by the Philippine government in 2018 that allows end-users consuming at least 100 kW of power to source their supply from qualified suppliers of renewable energy. GCGI will be allocating 200 MW to the program. There are eleven other energy suppliers qualified under GEOP including Shell Philippines, Inc (SEPH).
