The Philippines’ leading total bathroom solutions provider, Hocheng Philippines Corporation, commonly known as HCG, has renewed its contract for the supply of clean, reliable, and renewable energy from First Gen Corporation (First Gen).
This continuous commitment to the use of green energy in its operations, with its 850-kilowatt (kW) power demand, is consistent with HCG’s decarbonization goals.
The company’s mission is to provide quality LEED-compliant bathroom fixtures with sophisticated designs and excellent functionality to every Filipino home. HCG believes every bathroom fixture it creates has a 90-year-old story of excellence and timeless craftsmanship.
“Aside from the use of renewable energy, we have several initiatives that contribute to the company’s green and decarbonization objectives. For instance, we have innovations that offer water-saving products to green buildings, from 6 liters to 4 liters per flush product. This doesn’t only help the environment on water wastages but also results in additional savings for our customers,” said Eugene Lin, Senior Vice President and Officer-in-Charge of Hocheng Philippines Corporation.
“We are confident that First Gen can help meet our goals by providing efficient electricity through their low-carbon footprint resources. Furthermore, we are exploring solar rooftop projects to complement our geothermal source of power,” he added.
Under the new contract, First Gen’s 100% RE arm and leading geothermal provider, Energy Development Corporation (EDC), will supply HCG’s facility. Unlike other renewable energy (RE) sources, geothermal energy is considered the “Holy Grail” of RE technologies because it can provide uninterrupted, year-round baseload power, rain, or shine. Thus, the brand name Geo 24/7.
“We would like to thank HCG for the continued partnership with First Gen. We believe that choosing the right energy partner allows them to move toward a future that goes beyond sustainability for them and its customers’ precious bathroom,” said Carlo Vega, Vice President and head of First Gen’s Power Marketing, Trading, and Economics.
EDC is First Gen’s 100% renewable energy subsidiary that has over 1,480 MW total installed capacity and accounts for 20% of the country’s total installed RE capacity. Its 1,185.40-MW geothermal portfolio accounts for 62% of the country’s total installed geothermal capacity, making the Philippines the third largest geothermal producer in the world. First Gen is the Philippines’ leading clean energy company. Aside from geothermal, First Gen’s portfolio of power plants runs on hydro, solar wind, and natural gas, considered the cleanest form of fossil fuel.
