First Gen-owned Energy Development Corporation (EDC), the country’s leading geothermal producer, donated 713 Supreme Court Report Annotated and other Law books to Aemilianum College Inc. in Sorsogon City on May 19.
The formal turnover of books was held at the Aemilianum College Inc. (ACI) auditorium, with some EDC participants joining virtually via Zoom yesterday. EDC Legal and Regulatory Affairs Head Atty. Beth Policarpio and EDC Bacman Corporate Relations Department (CRD) Head Eduardo Jimenez led the official donations of SCRA and other law books.
During the message delivered by Atty. Policarpio, she mentioned that the book donation is only the beginning of EDC and Aemilianum College’s partnership. “We are delighted today as we officially turn over some books from EDC’s Legal and Regulatory Affairs Department. We believe that these valuable materials will benefit hundreds of law students in one of the most prestigious private Catholic schools in Sorsogon City, the Aemilianum College. We hope that this extensive collection of law books will benefit generations of faculty and students of the institution,” she said.
Atty. Policarpio also commented on the college for “allowing EDC to make a tangible contribution to the profound representation of Aemilianum College’s learning and lifelong commitment to promoting quality education among students and developing competent and compassionate graduates.”
In his acceptance message, College of Law Dean Judge Rofebar Gerona expressed ACI’s gratitude and appreciation for EDC’s generosity and committed that they will make good use of the books. “From the bottom of our hearts, we thank EDC for sharing these hundreds of books that will benefit our future lawyers and faculty members. We are glad to be one of the many beneficiaries of EDC in its CSR programs.”
The official handover of books was also attended by ACI Assistant Director for Administration Marilyn Berdin, ACI Assistant Director for Academics Dr. Lydia Doctor, and some law students.
