The Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) is an initiative of the Department of Energy (DOE) that allows consumers to choose renewable energy as a power source for their business. It is afforded through Republic Act No. 9513, also known as the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.
Existing companies that consume at least 100 kWh of electricity have the option to choose clean, reliable, and renewable energy from Energy Development Corporation.
To apply under GEOP, businesses need to fill up this form (link to GEOP partnership form) and submit proof that their average electricity demand is 100kW or higher from 6 to 12 months. A First Gen-EDC representative will be in touch to assist them in this process.
When a customer decides to participate in GEOP, they can get savings on generation charges. The generation charge will vary depending on the monthly consumption of your business.
There are no other fees required to shift to renewable energy. However, First Gen-EDC will require a security deposit prior to the start of supply.
There is no exact amount for the security deposit. Our representatives will get in touch to calculate the amount of the security deposit based on your monthly electricity bill.
Yes. Contracting under the GEOP is completely voluntary and at the discretion of the customer. If you decide not to renew your GEOP contract, you can choose to revert to your electric distribution utility.
