EDC gets four awards of excellence from Quill. Geothermal leader Energy Development Corporation (EDC) bagged four Quill awards of excellence for its environmental and CSR projects, namely HELEn, CAREERS, and BINHI. HELEn which stands for Health, Education, Livelihood, and Environment is EDC’s flagship CSR program. It has provided EDC’s host communities with means and opportunities to improve their health, education, livelihood and become environmental stewards. CAREERS, EDC’s College Admission Review and Readiness Project, is a support system tailor-made for high-potential but underprivileged students from EDC’s host communities. Through intensive summer review programs and strategic and logistical support, the CAREERS program has helped 27 bright young minds gain admission to the University of the Philippines and pave the way for a brighter future for themselves and their families. BINHI is a nationwide 10-year reforestation and biodiversity restoration project being implemented by EDC to address the escalating problem of deforestation and vanishing prime rare endemic tree species. In just over three years, BINHI, together with 81 partner schools and institutions, has planted over 2 million seedlings in over 3,000 hectares of land across the Philippines. The Quill award is given yearly by the International Association of Business Communicators to outstanding communication programs. Receiving the awards are (front row, L-R) Lourdes Zaide, Mary Anne Tejada, Ivy Henson, Frances Ariola, Norreen Bautista, Abba Sanchez, Marianne Paje, Toni Nieva, (back row, L-R), Fernando Diaz de Rivera and Dave Devilles.
