Geothermal leader Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. (ALKFI), under its Bantay Kalikasan program, partner up to develop a mangrove forest area in the municipality of Manito in Albay into a sustainable eco-tourism site to help generate livelihood for the residents without damaging the environment. The identified mangrove forest area is included in areas rehabilitated under EDC’s flagship environmental program, BINHI, through its partner farmer-assisted association, the Alliance of Bacman Farmers Association Inc. (ALBAFAI). The communities residing in the area are included in the host communities of EDC’s Bacon-Manito Geothermal Project (BMGP), which generated 140 MW of clean and uninterrupted energy.
