QUICK READ: Energy Development Corporation continues its COVID relief efforts with its latest donations to Negros Occidental.
Lopez-led renewable energy leader Energy Development Corporation (EDC) continues to provide support to its stakeholders in Negros Occidental in their fight against COVID-19.
For its third wave of community assistance, EDC has provided about 500 food packs with rice, canned goods, and noodles to lockdown areas within La Carlota City and Bago City through the team of Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer on October 9.
“We are thankful for the donation given by EDC. The activity that was coordinated well by their CSR team in Negros, especially Ms. Jayvi Valenzuela, made it easy for our office to also plan the logistics of the said goods. These donated goods will be very helpful for the people of Negros Occidental especially in these trying times. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Energy Development Corporation,” said Katrina Marie Rubin, Vice Governor Ferrer’s legislative officer.
Also on the same day, EDC turned over another 500 food packs to 3rd District of Negros Occidental Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko and Talisay City Councilor Randy Ereneta for indigent families from the towns and cities of EB Magalona, Talisay, Silay, and Victorias that were severely affected by the pandemic.
“Thank you very much, EDC. All of these will be a big help to the poor residents of our district,” said Ko.
EDC began providing aid to its partner communities, local government units, and customers at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, even if it has no operations in the area, as part of its commitment to continuously support Negros Occidental as it gets power from its 222.5-megawatt geothermal facility in Negros Oriental.
“This crisis calls for all of us to work together to help those in need in any way that we can,” said Norreen Bautista, head of EDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility teams in the Negros and Mount Apo geothermal facilities.
“As we continue to provide an uninterrupted supply of clean, renewable power that this country so badly needs, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic, we likewise find ways to help all our partners in their acute needs,” Bautista added. She also confirmed that they continuously consult their partner communities in Bago City and Murcia as well as the local government of Negros Occidental, including Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson, on this.
EDC is the country’s premier renewable energy company and one of the world’s largest geothermal producers. Its geothermal facilities in Valencia, Negros Oriental has been providing clean, renewable, reliable power 24/7 to Negros Island and other parts of the Visayas region for over 36 years.
