General Milling renews contract for 100% RE with EDC

Leading integrated food-manufacturing company General Milling Corporation (GMC) has renewed its contract for supply of clean, reliable and renewable energy from the Energy Development Corporation (EDC).

Under the new contract, EDC will supply GMC’s facility in Lapu-Lapu City with electricity coming from EDC’s Bacon-Manito Geothermal Project in the Bicol Region.

“We chose to renew with EDC because aside from the pure renewable energy that they provide, we are very satisfied with their service.  It is just like a renewal of vows for us,” said GMC Executive Vice President, Joselito “Toto” Parco.

Cebu-based GMC has been providing quality flour and bakery products for more than 50 years. From its first milling facility that was established in the mid-70s, GMC has expanded to animal feeds, corn mill, and the manufacturing and sales of consumer goods like snack food, pasta, instant noodles, edible oil and coffee.  The Lapu-Lapu factory is GMC’s biggest facility.

EDC is a subsidiary of the First Gen Corporation, the country’s largest clean energy company, with 3,490 megawatts in installed capacity. EDC is one of the world’s largest geothermal producers and the country’s leading renewable energy company with an installed capacity of 1,471.8 MW.
