#geofact: Contrary to some beliefs, geothermal drilling and power plant operations do not affect volcanic activity. Studies say there is no evidence to suggest that geothermal plants cause danger for the employees or the communities within the immediate area.

The World’s Largest Vertically Integrated Geothermal CompanyYes .there's no problem with geothermal power plant. I've had opportunity to work in Tiwi and Bacon/Manito power plant project and it runs safe and good. The one prominent problem was that the power rate charges in the locality where power was generated is the same as those in far flung areas. In some cases even higher because the power being generated is first transferred to key and major cities before being redistributed back. It's a go around system.
Better if the people where the geothermal power plant benefit directly from the power source. We in Leyte where the biggest geothermal plant is are being made to pay the highest power rates. This is so unfair!
it was Pres.Marcos who explored Geothermal power in the 70s.Now people are recognising that Geothermal power is here to stay.
Theres also problem in the geothermal power plant.emmission of sulfur dioxide.how do you arrest this problem? This is also an environmental concerned.
Geothermal energy is not dangerous, EPIRA LAW however is detrimental.
Geothermal power is safe and consistent provided it is tapped into correctly.
Natural law is " for every action is a re-action" so geothermal power is no exception; it has its positive and negative impact to humans and environment.
We can used all energies that comes from the nature's itself. What shakes the ground is what we really don't know. Geothermal plants were not the main causes of this earthquake,it's the natural process of our world to release much of this internal heat that is so much down there, let us focused our mind not on negative conclusion.but rather do understand that there are manufacturers who only wanted to much out of oil ,not knowing that THE BLOOD OF OUR WORLD IS NON OTHER THAN OIL ITSELF.
There is no such thing as clean and safe...there is always risk...invironmental hazard....
GI sheet roofings of residential houses constructed near geothermal are reported to corrode early and there is a possibility of lung illness because of the presence of sulphur in the air.
irony of explorations harnessing the Natural Resouces, Mining activities, Pseudo-Development Projects its Result The Host Province, Localities, Massive Poverty of People, Suffers to the extent of Environmental and Water Sheds Destructions, Pollutions, hazard to life, Non Payment of Taxes Social injustices
Better. Educate people about geothermal power how they do it and what will be effect on the environment , instead of asking the people are know nothing about geothermal power
copper mining caused the extimction of living things in the river but is there any study about the effect of geothermal exploration to the decrease of marine animals in places of concern?
Yes .You know what other business affected .1 affected many supper for their policy.
Is EDC still part of PNOC? During Marcos time, it is PNOC-EDC. PNOC-Petron PNOC-Dockyard & Eng'g Corp. PNOC-Shipping & Transport Corp PNOC-Bataan Refinery PNOC-Geothermal PNOC-Coal PNOC-Hydroelectric Corp
All power generations have negative effects. Let us tone down individual & collective appetite for consumption of energy so power generation investment will taper off.
How can you explain Mt. Pinatubo? There was a reported drilling before it erupted - awakened from its dormancy.
Geothermal drilling and Power Electricity Generation are different scenario.
before pinatubo eruption, there were drillings conducted plus the earthquake
The Government must invest also on oil and gas exploration .
Dapat meron na ring Geothermal Power Plant near Taal Volcano.. para maharvest na rin ang geo energy near Taal.. that will be good for the community of Taal and tagaytay..
Maybe but how about the sulfuric acid rain in that area.
so be it..
we have nuch garbage that csn generate power why not use it ..ang dami basura araw araw di msuubos yan bakit walang nskaisip na gamitin ..ne utak o talaga walang isip ..
Amen po
